Bridwell Cabin

The antebellum log cabin built on this spot predated the city of Mt. Washington, originally called Crossroads in the 19th century.  Known much later as the Bridwell Cabin, it is the city’s oldest surviving structure, albeit in another location.  The cabin had several owners prior to 1858 when Henry and Henrietta Bridwell purchased it.  Their daughter Lizza Bridwell continued to live here after their passing until her death in 1951.  Bridwell descendants sold the cabin to the Kannapel family who, in 1952, moved it to Cherry Valley near Prospect, KY where it still stands.
